Work

Below is a selection of work I have done over the last year.

Avanade Website Redesign

This redesign was done as the current Avanade site is difficult to use and confusing. Also the tablet and mobile responsive views were even more unusable.

The first step was to understand the hierachy of importance from the company. This is so the most important message is easy for views to understand.

Distilling the elements down to what is nessasery on the home page helps the users understand what the company is about and easlity navigate through, making the site more functional, usable and a delight.

From this base I could design the mobile view. Some of the challenges was to much scrolling, so I tried a few options, ending on a small chevron at the bottom of the screen to take you to the next section.

Guerrilla UX

Guerrilla UX was founded by Bryce Cox and Tristan Klein, both graduates from Billy Blue College of Design, Sydney.

This startup idea came about because we noticed a gap between the documented best practices for UX discovery / user testing and the current services being offered in the market. So we set out to provide a service built around validating your ideas through contextual research with real users and quick turn around times.

Tennis Heroes

Tennis Heroes is a silly tennis game for mobile. It was created to see the capabilities of a small team in mobile game creation.

I was the game designer, illustrator and animator. There was 1 react native developer, a tester, product owner, product manager and iteration manager.

Digital Connects Here

Avanade wanted to rebrand them selves within the NBN to align more with NBN’s core values.

First starting with the phrase “Digital Starts Here”, I designed about 15 various designs in about 3 hours. Then after reviewing, we shortlisted to 3 designs. These were reworked and the another 25 variations were created. Finally the last one was chosen and tweaked.

This was incorporated into presentation designs and printed collateral.

This project is a website advertising a game like Pokemon Go but stupider. The website is coded in HTML, CSS, and a little JAVA for animation. The site is also responsive because its using bootstraps colums and rows. Illustrations created in Photoshop.

Storyboard

This rough storyboard was illustrated to show an example of the user journey as they play the game and embark on a scavanger hunt.

Little Bookworms

This is the front end development for a childrens online bookstore.

From research in competitor analysis, card sorting, information architecture and user flows. Then into low and medium fidelity wireframes created in sketch. Finally these wireframes are taken into Invision and then usability tests are done to test the funtions of the site.

Illustrations were created in illustrator.

Emotion is an app that aims to help users change their mood to help do various tasks such as concentration, relaxation, sleep and more.

Falafel & Finrod is a simple two player game, designed, built & illustrated by Tristan Klein.

Tristan has experimented with interactive projection mapping to enhance the experience.

The aim was to make an experimental interactive piece that would bring people together to enjoy a fun and memorable experience.

The level layout was inspired from old retro platform games, evident in the use of bespoke retro NES controllers.

The characters, Falafel and Finrod, are Tristan’s fantasy pets.

Controls are:
Player 1: W = Jump, A = Left, D = Right, F = Shoot.
Player 2: Up = Jump, Left arrow = Left, Right Arrow = Right, M = Shoot.
